Track freezing – Logic Pro – Logic Pro Help.Midi FX Freeze on the Mac App Store
By bradfordadrianJune 26, in Logic Pro. Does freezing tracms release memory as well as CPU cycles? Does freezing the file not only save the CPU from having to calculate plugins, but does go release the RAM taken by the samples that Ivory, Omnisphere, Kontakt, whatever have to load? Technically, If you have 4 tracks and they do not overload your system, then you should have no need to freeze them.
When you freeze the 4 tracks, Logic will temporarily save them as a 32 bit quality audio file somewhere on your hard drive. Your system should easily lohic 4 frozen tracks. Perhaps more detail is freez before someone can offer a solution. First, what’s recommended is not an external drive, but a second hard drive. On some machines like a laptop or iMac, a second hard logid can only be external, while on other machines such as the Mac Pro, a second internal drive will actually be a better and faster choice than a second external drive.
Any apple loops, samples or sample attacks depending on your sampler settings and audio files set to “follow tempo” used in that project are also transferred to RAM. So in essence, it really doesn’t matter where ANY of those files are, since they logci all transferred to RAM, and then read from RAM as you’re working in an open session.
What’s left? Good old regular audio files and loglc tails, if using. You still have to read those from disk in real time. Now since everything else is already in RAM, why should it matter where the audio files now If that’s the only activity on your computer anyway?
I’m glad you asked So in order to let Mac OS X do its job without interferences, AND in logic pro x how to freeze tracks free to be able to reliably read and write record audio files at the same time, those two tasks are divided onto two separate hard drives: one for logic pro x how to freeze tracks free system, one for your project folders since those tradks the project’s audio files.
I think we’re talking apples and oranges. Logic has a 4G RAM footprint. It will crash if you approach the 3G limit by virtue of loading lots of samples. Maybe “virtue” is the wrong word to use, but anyway When you have tons of samples loaded in memory and you’re getting crashes, freezing tracks won’t help you unless you unload the samples afterwards delete the plugin, or, turn the instrument off.
Or, you could print your tracks and unload the samples. The name itself is misleading, but the function is tarcks. And it seems to work best on how to export your in pro free system anyway if you set the disk speed in the same control panel to “slow” even if you have fast hard drives.
Again, this only works with EXS. This introduces a whole lot logic pro x how to freeze tracks free other complications search for the big Plogue Bidule здесь but it’s comment installer office plus 2010 free workable solution for some people. I’m assuming then that a frozen plug-in will still load all its samples into RAM, whether or not the frozen track is what’s playing. I ask not because I’m runnign out of CPU but my system keeps crashing when I have all these memory-hungry sample-based plugins running despite having 10GB on my mac pro and 8GB on my macbook pro. Or one could say, any tips on conserving memory when programming.? I’m running a few instances of Ivory, many of Omnisphere, some Vienna instrument plugins, Kontakt libraries.
Superior And my systems crash regularly with this much stuff. Im trying z implement some kind of freze where I can program in frer and print the audio to pro tools, and disable the plugins on logic saving channel strip settings or whatever, if I need to recall.
But it would be too to be able to hit ‘freeze’ and keep rockin’. Posted June 27, In the meanwhile, From a different thread: OK there’s a LOT of confusion around that issue, even in this thread – let me make things clear.

The developer will be required to provide privacy details when they submit their next app update.
This reduces its processor usage to that of a high-resolution audio track with no effects plug-ins , regardless of the number or complexity of the plug-ins actually used on the track. Freezing is particularly useful for software instrument tracks and for audio tracks that use complex effects. It is not available for multi-output software instruments. When you freeze a track, the track is bounced to an audio file.
The freeze file includes the output of any plug-ins on the track and any track automation. While the track is frozen, the freeze file plays back in place of the original track, which is temporarily deactivated including any plug-ins. Channel strip controls such as track mute and solo are available, but no track content can be edited including region mute and solo, for example.
While a track is frozen, it cannot be edited. If you want to edit the track, you can unfreeze it, make the changes, and then freeze the track again. Freeze is designed to circumvent very CPU-intensive processes, such as software instruments with a complex voice architecture, and complex plug-ins such as reverbs, filter banks, or FFT-based effects.
If your computer can calculate all active processes in real time, freezing tracks is unnecessary. Freezing tracks is recommended when tracks with CPU-intensive software instrument or effects plug-ins are in a finalized state, or require no further changes. Use extra effects plug-ins or software instruments in additional audio or software instrument tracks, which would normally be impossible as it would exceed the CPU-processing limits of your computer.
