CAPaD volunteering policy shot to underscore that, Youth and Women often are significant proportion of the combatants in many conflicts and more so the current conflict. Youth and women are also the major victims in any violence and conflict. Youth and women engagement in reconciliation, peace building, and intervention of domestic violence are key consideration of this policy. One of the reasons CAPaD noted from its many years of work in South Sudan is that, youth are attracted to violent movements and violence is simply because young people and women are often have that feelings that they are not accorded respect and status that they cannot find in other activities or relationships. Therefore, in this regard Youth -led community service projects provide opportunities for youth and women to positively contribute to their communities and increase their status in their communities.
In Jonglei and Central Equatoria, adults interviewed mentioned repeatedly that watching youth implement service projects increased their confidence in youth to play a positive role in their communities and demonstrated in most of CAPaD project where they have played a significant role in results and impact both at the national and grassroots levels.
